MILAN – Hurricane Sandy has caused an estimated damage of 150 million dollars to the Jamaican coffee industry, local media report.
According to the President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society, or JAS, Senator Norman Grant, the storm which damaged roads and felled trees on plantations, left over 20% of the crop on the ground.
The most severe damage was reported in Portland. Farms in St. Thomas and St Andrew were also damaged, Senator Grant declared.
